Your name – your passport to writing success

Marketing yourself – promoting yourself and your writing – is essential for all writers.
Yes, dear writer, this means YOU.
There are many reasons you need to learn the art of marketing. The most important reason is this: without a “name”, you’re dispensable. With a name, you bring clout to every negotiation:
* If you’re selling a book proposal, the publisher knows you have readers, so is willing to pay you more, and to take you more seriously;
* If you’re selling an article, the editor knows you’re an experienced pro, and won’t be a royal pain in the you-know-what, so is prepared to pay you more because you’re a pro;
* If you’re selling your Web writing skills, prospective clients line up to work with you, because they know your name and you have trust and credibility;
* If you’re selling your copywriting skills, your clients are happy to pay you whatever rates you wish to charge – again, you’re a known quantity.
Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be running a Promote Yourself and Your Writing Series.
