Writing Jobs: How you can make money writing blogs

For freelance writers, blogging is one of the easiest ways to make money writing. Essentially, blogging involves writing snippets – short articles, anywhere from 50 to 800 words in length, several times a week.
How much money can you make? Darren Rowse, of problogger says in the article “How I Make Money Blogging”:
These days I don’t go into specifics about it – all I will say is that it continues to be well over six figures per year (but less than seven figures). What you’ll find below are my top income streams – ranked from highest earnings to lowest.
Keep in mind that this is a summary of all of my blogs (not just ProBlogger). It does not include any income that I earn from b5media where I’m paid a salary as VP Training.
The article makes an interesting read if you want to blog for money, by creating your own blog(s).
Which brings us to the two primary ways in which you can make money by writing blogs: blog for others, and/ or blog for yourself, on your own blogs.
I’ve got many, many blogs, including many writing blogs, so blogging is the perfect writing “job” for me. A couple of years ago I blogged for others, but now I only do blogging consultations for others – helping businesses to plan and create blogs – the major part of my blogging time is spent writing my own blogs.
Blog jobs you can get, even if you’re a brand new writer
Blogging is ideal for new writers. If you’re capable of writing an article, you can blog.
So, who will your customers be? They’ll be businesses, online portals and magazines, corporations and private individuals. There are many blog media and network companies online too, and these will pay you a certain amount per month to write several blog posts each week.
If you’re a new writer, you’ll make around $100 a week for a couple of blog posts. Experienced writers can make ten times that – you’ll be paid rates which are commensurate to print article rates, at around $1 a word.
Make money creating your own blogs
As soon as possible, you’ll want to get into creating your own blogs. On your own blogs, the income you make is your own. You’ll make an income from your blogs in many ways.
You can:
* Sell advertising space on your blog
* Sell products on your blog
* Use blogs as promotional tools for other activities – for books you’ve written, or to get writing jobs.
Imagine… $1,000 A Week For Just Ten Hours
You can get paid to blog. The current rate for experienced bloggers is around $1,000 to $1500 a week for from two to five posts a day for ONE BLOG – VERY nice writing income.
(Some bloggers are making $20,000 a month.)
