Ebooks: Become a Bestselling Author

If you’re a writer, you’ve probably always had a dream to write a bestselling book. Forget the image of the starving artist scribbling furiously in a garret writing a lengthy tome. You can easily achieve your dream by writing ebooks.

Read on to find out more.

In case you are not familiar with them, here’s a primer: Ebooks are electronic books. They are generally produced digitally and sold online via an increasing variety of sources. When someone purchases the ebook, he or she downloads it on a computer, electronic reader or other device automatically.

Readers like ebooks because they can get the information they are looking for instantly. They can store a library in a flash drive and access them whenever they wish. They can also print the pages they want, whenever they want.

Sellers of ebooks love the fact that they can sell them without having a stack of unsold inventory gathering dust in a warehouse somewhere. There’s no danger of running out of a bestseller. As long as the ebook is on file someplace, another copy can always be printed.

Authors (i.e., you) will love ebooks for two main reasons: One is that the publishing process is so much quicker than for conventional books. There are many ways to self-publish ebooks. You don’t have to wait until some acquisitions editor in his or her ivory tower deigns to read your manuscript and deem it worthy to print.

You can publish it yourself within a matter of weeks, or even days (if you have the know-how).

You can also use your books to start your own publishing empire. Once you have an ebook available, you can use it as the basis of a course or a seminar or even a video series.

A well-written ebook can quickly enable you to position yourself as an expert in your given topic. Set up a newsletter, an affiliate program and/ or a member site and you will quickly become a well-known author.

But the best part of writing ebooks is the money. Consider that a standard 300-page paperback novel costs about $10 at your local bookstore. You as the author only get a few pennies of that money when all is said and done. However, a 50-page ebook can be snapped up for $20 or so and, if you self-publish, you get to keep all that money for yourself. Hmm, which makes more financial sense to you?

The reason is that ebook readers are looking for information — information that only you have or that you present in a truly unique and useable way. While it is essential that ebooks be well-written, readers aren’t looking to admire your literary turn of phrase, complex symbolism etc. They want what they need to know and they want it now.

Ebooks are fairly easy to write: Simply compile a series of articles on a subject you know about. Arrange them into a format that would make sense to a newcomer to that subject, and then edit and proofread it.

Then you can look into the various avenues to publish and sell your product. You can literally go from idea to market in a month or less.

If you’re a writer or want to be one, the smart way to succeed is by starting your ebook today.

Ebooks: Sell Information, Make Money

Selling information is a great way to make money online. However, there are secrets to creating information products which sell in their thousands: let’s look at three tips which will help you.

1. You’re Selling Instant Information

When you’re selling information products, you’re selling information which people want and need immediately. They have a problem, and your ebook, video series or course promises the answer.

This means that your product must be focused on what the reader is paying for.

For example, I’ve seen many ebooks which were allegedly focused on a specific problem which the reader had. However when I read them, these ebooks were packed with waffle and extraneous information which was totally useless to the reader. I wasn’t surprised when I saw that these products’ refund rates were high.

For example, if your ebook promises to help the reader to solve his acne problem, ensure that the entire ebook relates to how he can solve the problem, and not on anything else.

2. Keep It Short, Keep It Simple

No one wants to read hundreds of pages of information online, nor do they want to print out a 300 page ebook. The information you’re providing should be narrowly focused; if you can solve the reader’s problem in a short ebook of five pages, then that’s how long your product should be.

There’s no point in providing an avalanche of useless information just to bulk out the content, and this relates directly to your bonuses.

If you’re providing bonuses, how essential and relevant are they? Bonuses may be a good idea, if they add value. But they’re a terrible idea if they’re junk, because they lower the value of your product.

3. Focus Your Topics

Are you beginning to see a thread here?

Your ebook buyer has a problem, and is counting on you to solve that problem. No other information is needed or required, so focus on one problem and provide the solution.

Ebooks: 3 Tips Increase Your Sales of Every Ebook

Want to start your own information product creation home business? Ebooks are hot, and as long as you provide the information people want, your ebooks will sell.

But how do you increase sales?

Perhaps you’ve created an ebook and it’s sold well… or not at all. You can build in more sales, if you think about further sales while you’re creating an information product.

Here are three tips:

1. Focus on One Area or Niche, So That You’re Perceived As an Expert

Bestselling authors, with their books crowding the bookstore shelves, know that one book doesn’t make a career. Many books do, and these authors are under contract to deliver at least one new book a year.

Similarly, if you’ve written an ebook about dog training your single ebook won’t make much of an impact. Write 20 books about dog training however, and you’ll be perceived as “the” dog training expert online.

So to sell more of one ebook, write more ebooks on the same, or a related topic.

2. Offer Add-On Information Products to Each Ebook

You can’t cover everything about a topic in one ebook. The big benefit of the ebook format for people is that they can get just the information they want, when they want it.

So before you release your first ebook, have another product ready. You can use all your information products to promote each other. This works to increase your sales because people who are interested in a product, want more information.

3. Boost Your Promotions: Try New Ways of Marketing

Once you’ve got several information products to promote, look for new ways of marketing.

For example, if you’ve always focused on online promotions, investigate offline venues. Advertise in your local paper, or in trade magazines. In our dog training example, you could promote your dog training ebooks in dog magazines.

There are dozens of ways you can promote… try a new promotional method every month.

Writing for Residual Income: Top Two Ways

Do you want to increase your income from your writing? To do that, you have to find ways which will pay for your time, over and over again. Let’s look at the top two ways in which you can make money from your writing long after you’ve completed it.

1. Create Websites As Cash Machines

Creating websites is a great part-time activity for a writer.

You have the skills you need, and once you’ve written the content for a site, the site has the potential to make residual income for you. Your own skill in choosing a topic for your site, and choosing monetization options, will determine how much you make.

If you need a fast deposit of cash into your PayPal account, you can always sell a site. (Older sites are easier to sell than newer sites, for various reasons.)

Not every website you create will be an instant winner.

Some sites will make little cash. However, you’ll also create sites which surprise and delight you with the income they generate — and the more money a site makes, the more you can sell the site for, if you wish.

Creating and selling websites is at the top of my list of residual income opportunities for writers.

2. Write and Sell (Lots of) Ebooks

The other way to create residual income is to write and sell ebooks.

You can create ebooks and short reports, and make some income from each one. Each project you complete builds on the last. This is because with each ebook you sell, you have somebody who knows the value of the information you provide, and will buy additional products from you.

Ebooks are simple to create.

However, before you start writing, ensure that there is a market for your information.

Here’s a fast way of finding out whether there’s a market — check to see whether other people are selling information products in this area. If they are, then you’ve found a hot topic, and you can go ahead and write with confidence.
