Article Writing: Success or Failure?

Do you want to be successful at article writing? You can make a lot of money writing simple web articles, if you have a process to follow. This process includes the use of keywords; however, you must ensure that you’re using them in the right way.

1. Use the Right Keywords at the Right Time

With billions of webpages online, you articles will sink without a trace unless you use the right keywords.

However, you shouldn’t depend on keyword tools. Remember that these tools are all historical, they may tell you what search queries were used last week, last month, or last year, but they can’t tell you what people will search for today or at any time in the future.

Therefore, rather than relying on keyword tools, pay attention to what your articles’ audience is looking for.

Read blogs and forums related to the topics on which you’re writing articles. On blogs, read the comments on posts. It’s also useful to read newspaper sites. Any news which is related to one of your topics is valuable to you.

When you pay attention to your audience, you’ll be using the keywords that they are using today, and your articles will be found.

2. Your Brain Is the Best Keyword Tool

If you’re writing articles for others, you usually won’t have the choice of which keywords to use because the keywords will be provided for you. However if you’re writing articles for yourself, for your own sites and blogs, then realize that your brain is the best keyword tool.

Research your topic.

Read sites and blogs related to that topic. Join forums. You need to know your market, and once you’re happy that you understand exactly what the needs of these people are, you will be able to write articles which they will want to read.

Therefore, brainstorm keywords from your own research before you start using any online keyword tool.

Article writing is becoming very competitive. Your success or failure depends on you.

Writing Articles: 3 Tactics to Make Money Faster

You can turn writing articles into a great home business. However, unless you think about what you’re doing, you could spend your time writing for sites which pay poorly. To make more money, you need to improve your strategy.

Here are three ways you can do that.

1. Improve Your Topic Selection

Every article you write is written for a purpose. People buy articles to add more content to a website, or perhaps to sell specific products. When you’re writing for others, your topics will usually be chosen for you.

One way to sell more articles however, is to write articles on money-making topics that you choose yourself. If you choose your topics well, and can show that they will be profitable, you’ll line up more clients than you can handle.

2. Focus on Your Client Selection

Although some writers make great money on the outsourcing sites, many don’t.

I call this the “rush to the bottom syndrome”. Writers on the outsourcing sites tend to believe that the lowest bidder wins. They never stop to consider that if this is so, that you’ve really won nothing at all, except a lot of hard work and minimal pay.

If you want to make money faster, decide that you will never work for clients who won’t pay your base rate.

Set your base rate at a reasonable level and never bid below that. You may be surprised that at all it takes is a decision on your part, and you’ll get the money you want. Buyers who want articles at the lowest possible price aren’t worth your time and energy. (Unless you’re a beginner, at which time you should write for anybody who will hire you, until you get experienced.)

3. Match Topics and Clients

When you know how article writing works, and your articles make money, it’s time to start matching article topics and clients.

For example, perhaps you’ve decided to write a batch of articles on the Apple iPhone. You know that this is a hot selling product, and there’s lots of demand for information. Once you’ve written your articles, offer them to a blog or a website which is focused on technology, or on products made by Apple. If your articles are good, they’ll sell; you may even land an on-going job writing for the site.

Take your content-writing to the next level — create info products.

Freelance Writing: 3 Tips to Build A Writing Career Beyond Your Dreams

writing_dream-1.jpg

Do you want to build a wonderful freelance writing career? There’s never been a better time to be a writer, because there’s unlimited writing work available and your success is limited only by your own imagination… and your ability to set goals.

1. Use Your Imagination: What Do YOU Want?

What you want to achieve in your writing career?

Take a couple of minutes and write down how much money you would like to make, how you would like to live, and how many hours you would like to work each day.

2. Set WIG Goals: and Achieve Them

Now you’ve written down what you want to achieve in a broad outline, take another step. Set some wildly improbable goals — I call these WIG goals and you’ll be amazed at how often you achieve the totally improbable.

The benefit of setting WIG goals is that they’re inspiring. They motivate you.

Look at the difference:

Goal A: I will sell ten articles this month

Goal B: I will make $20,000 selling articles this month

Which goal is more inspiring?

Please don’t hold back when you set goals: make your goals wildly improbable.

Perhaps you stopped setting goals at some stage, because you’ve been disappointed. If this is you, then realize that everything you’ve achieved so far you created in your own mind. If you can create a new vision for yourself, you will achieve that — but you can only achieve what you can imagine first.

Writing is a lonely profession. It takes courage. No one can tell you what to do as a writer, it all depends on your own imagination and inspiration as well as on your determination.

You’ve used your imagination, and you’ve set some WIG goals.

Now take the next step, and realize that…

3. Yes, It’s Who You Know, and Who Knows You

People need to know that you write.

The only way they’ll find out is if you tell them. This means marketing and networking.

It’s never been easier to make friends in the writing world. Once you start writing and sending your material to people who can buy it, you will be a success, because you’re building relationships.

Market your writing, and build profiles on sites like Twitter and Facebook. You’ll build a writing career beyond your dreams.

Copywriting: 5 Secrets of Master Copywriters

5secrets1.jpg

Are you a new copywriter? Copywriting is extremely lucrative and if you’re not surpassing your previous income in your first year, you’re just not trying. Let’s look at five secrets you can use today.

Experienced copywriters have a workflow that they follow. Once they’ve agreed to work on a project, they complete the project before the deadline because they know exactly what they’re doing and why they’re doing it.

1. They Understand the Brief

A brief is a project description. If you don’t understand the brief, there’s no chance that you will complete the project to your satisfaction or to the client’s.

Getting a workable brief from a client is often difficult, because although they know what they want, they have trouble explaining it. That’s fine. It’s your job to develop a brief which you understand, and which is what the client wants.

Keep asking questions until you know what the client wants, then write out the brief in your own words, and get the client’s agreement on it.

2. They Stuff Their Minds With Information

Copywriting involves more than writing: it’s mostly thinking. The more information you can get which will help you to complete the brief the better. Ask the client for previous marketing campaigns they’ve done, and interview anyone and everyone who can give you information on the product.

Do additional research on your own. I tend to prefer libraries for research, because that’s where you find the best information.

3. They Allow Room for Creativity

Expect to be creative. After you stuff your head with information, sooner or later you’ll get a flash of inspiration.

Invariably inspiration will strike at the weirdest places. I usually get inspired in my car, in the shower, or when I’m walking my dog. I always carry a digital recorder for that reason. (If you don’t record your inspirations immediately, they fade quickly.)

4. They’re Willing to Write Several Drafts

The more drafts you write, the better. You need to produce quantity, and out of that quantity will come quality.

5. They Pester the Client to Track and Reveal Results

Stay in touch with your clients. Ask them for project results. It’s vital that you know whether or not your copy worked, because it will help you in all your future projects.

Enjoy copywriting. It’s a wonderful career because it’s never boring, and working with clients is exciting and challenging.
