About

Hello fellow writer, welcome to my Writing Hacker site.

Perhaps you’ve read my primary writing blog, Angela Booth’s Writing Blog, which has been online for four years, or perhaps you’re one of my writing students. If we haven’t met, online or off, I’m pleased to virtually meet you, and I hope that you will not only enjoy my writing Web sites, but also that you’ll feel free to contact me at any time with questions, ideas, and thoughts.

You can also contact me if you’d like personal writing coaching and/ or instruction, of course.

If you’re thinking I’ve got a LOT of writing blogs, you’re right. I have. Here’s a list of my writing blogs.

So, what can you expect to find on this site? Information about writing, primarily, and also how to make writing fun, whether you’re writing as a hobby, or want to become a full time writer.

Writing Hacker helps you to come to grips with the world of writing in the 21st century.

The big wide world of writing – where do you fit in?

The writing world is huge. On my other blogs, I cover freelance writing, copywriting, writing for business, and much more.

On this blog, I want to take a broader view. I got the idea for the blog because so many people who approach me via my original writing blog have so many questions about writing in general. They’re new to thinking of themselves as a “writer” and have no idea of how they might fit into this broad world, which is changing so rapidly.

The world of writing has changed unbelievably since I started my freelance career, around thirty years ago. Now, I can send an editor a email message and he receives it in minutes. In 1975, I had an IBM golfball typewriter, made copies with carbon paper, and sent my work to editors in the UK and USA via air mail. If I sent a letter to an editor, it could take a month or longer to get a response. I can still remember correcting proofs for my first novel and sending my editor a telegram with some last-minute changes.

So this site, Writing Hacker, will I hope demystify the 21st century world of writing – it can seem intimidating – and will offer a broad overview of the kinds of writing projects you could undertake, and will give you some motivation and inspiration too.

Most of all, I’d like to you discover the sheer fun of writing.

Enjoy. :-)

Affectionately

Angela

Column – Write Start by Laura Brestovansky

Laura Brestovansky has more than 20 years of writing/editing/proofreading experience, including blogs and web content. After writing for weekly and daily newspapers she finds her skills translate very well to the immediacy of the web. “Good writing is good writing, and is needed everywhere,” Brestovansky says. “Readers and clients want words that are well-written, focused and timely. I strive to give that in every assignment.”

Write Start with Laura Brestovansky has two purposes: First, to share information on web writing with others. “Web writing is a great opportunity, but it can be bewildering to beginners,” she said. Second, to thank those who have helped her succeed. “Many excellent writers took the time to help me when I was struggling to enter the field. It’s my turn to pay it forward.”

Brestovansky has written on a number of topics, including health care, home improvement, travel, religion and social issues. “I like the variety. I can write about traveling in Spain one morning and spend the afternoon writing about home improvement. As long as I’m learning new information and sharing that information with others, I’m happy.” Visit http://laura.brestovansky.googlepages.com/home to put her skills to work for you.
